IMPROVING HEALTH CONDITIONS IN UNDERSERVED COMMUNITY SCHOOLS-AFRIGROWTH FOUNDATION
Eight First Aid Boxes for Eight LEA Primary School in FCT Abuja

A selfless course is indeed a rewarding exercise for those who are committed to it. As a way of improving health conditions in underserved communities, AfriGrowth Foundation a non-governmental organization in partnership with Nisa Premier Hospital Abuja, donated eight (8) fully kitted “First Aid Boxes” to 8 Local Education Authority (LEA) Primary schools in Abuja (Gosa Sarki, Sabon Lugbe, FHA Lugbe, Chika, Piwoyi, Zhibi Bwari, Godoji Kuje and UBE Pasali Kuje).

Furthermore with the help of certified medical professionals, an interactive health talk on the importance of first aid treatment, how to render first aid treatment; prevention of playground hazards and saving lives in schools were taught and demonstrated by a consultant from Nisa Premier Hospital. He advised the pupils to always look out for one another especially during play times for any unusual conditions, such as bleeding, unstable movement etc. All unusual observations should be reported to a teacher immediately for quick first aid treatment.

Expressing her excitement and joy of having a first aid box for her pupils, Mrs. Gwana Head Teacher LEA primary school Gosa Sarki commended the Donors, thanked the sponsors and most especially AfriGrowth Foundation for remembering the children of her school and indeed all other beneficiaries.

For indeed a safe learning environment is essential for school children of all ages, as it enables them to focus on learning the skills needed to successfully complete their education. When injuries are involved in any educational setting, all pupils or students are affected in different ways; no matter whose child is the victim, witnessing it alone affects any child’s mental health.

On this finding, we thank NISA Premier Hospital Abuja for keying into AfriGrowth Foundation’s Health Program and we urge other Hospitals, companies and organization to emulate this noble course with Afrigrowth Foundation. The foundation is always ready to go into partnership with bodies or individuals to deliver Humanitarian services especially to underserved communities.
