Background

Culture encompasses the social behaviour, codes of manners, dressing, language, institutions and norms found in human societies. Knowledge on their Cultural background gives children a sense of who they are and affects the way they develop emotionally, socially, physically, and linguistically. Teaching children about diverse cultures assists them to respect and celebrate the differences in all people.

Learning about the rich Nigerian Cultural Heritage and Diversity supports our children to develop as global citizens. It equally offers new experiences for children and helps them to realize our unity as people, despite differences in how we look or dress, or what we eat or celebrate.

Stories help to develop a child’s imagination by introducing new ideas into their world. Stories play a vital role in the growth and development of children. It’s also good for children to understand that books are a useful source of information and that good reading skills are important for success in their future lives.
