CELEBRATING A TOTAL OF 20 LIBRARIES OPENED!!! JOIN US TOWARDS ACHIEVING OUR GOAL OF 30 LIBRARIES BY 2016
It was a remarkable step towards laying to bed an endeavour that prior to this time had been at a stage of development. The commissioning of new Libraries in 5 LEA Primary Schools under the Abuja Municipal Area Council, Abuja F.C.T was sponsored by the Australian High Commission through the Direct Aid Program (DAP).It was a highly remarkable event for the beneficiary communities as the event witnessed the presence of the Australian Deputy High Commissioner, Ms Angela Tierney, AfriGrowth Board Director Mrs Eniola Yonwuren, Executive Director of AfriGrowth Foundation Mrs Oly Sanni, AMAC chairman representative, AMAC speaker, HON, Zadna Dantani; HOD Education Mrs Hajara Koce, Drs Mrs Ikwuegbu and Regina Udontia as AMAC Education secretary representative and FCT UBEB chairman representative Mrs Hussaina Muhammed to mention a few, also present were the village heads of the various communities, Head Teachers and librarians of the 5 LEA Primary Schools. The event was held on the 19th of March 2015, at the Local Education Authority Primary School, Sabon Lugbe, Airport Road, Abuja.
The commissioning was held between the hours of 10am and 1:00pm with a dance performance from the host school and a spelling competition between the five(5) Schools .L.E.A Primary School Piwoyi got an AfriGrowth branded school bag and books for winning the spelling competition. The establishment of the 5 new Libraries is one of the ways AfriGrowth Foundation is fulfilling its commitments towards improving the reading skills and literacy level amongst children and youth in underserved communities. Previously, AfriGrowth Foundation had refurbished 15 Libraries in L.E.A Primary Schools located in Bwari, AMAC and Kuje Area Councils, F.C.T Abuja and Nassarawa State.
