The Life of an Orphan

AfriGrowth Foundation makes it clear to us all that we know they are out there. Infants, toddlers, children and teenagers, who for whatever reason are alone in this world, with no parents, nor family to call their own. Orphans, with no one connected to them by blood, or by law; live through their lives at the mercy of those presently in charge of them, if any at all. Tomorrow, next month or next year, the house they occupy could be destroyed due to one form of city restructuring or the other or even be attacked by dangerous and stronger beings. Sometimes they are constantly moved from one environment to another in search of a possible better life. Imagine a childhood made up of such instability, where nothing and no one belongs to you.

These “waiting children” (as they are referred to by adoption agencies), or simply orphanage and vulnerable children (OVC) as our society group them, breathe the same air with us and have all characteristics as human beings. Why then do we look away? Some of these children are left alone in this world because they lost their parents in one way or the other. Some were left behind in maternity wards because they are born with “imperfections.” Some were separated from their parents due to natural disasters, disease or poverty. In summary, it’s never their faults that they have found themselves in these conditions. All Holy books encourage us to be our brothers’ keeper; and give to the needy. Even if it’s only a smile; let’s give it to them. A smile can resonate a feeling of hope in their lives. Let’s lend a helping hand and further extend it for the benefit of mankind, these children (Orphan) need you and me, there are so many ways we can show them kindness:

  • Prayer: As we expect more for the children’s sustenance, our prayers are needed to kindle their faith, hope and will.
  • Donation: Money, Clothing, Food item, detergents etc. Money can be used to make the world a better place. When you donate to Orphanage homes that are doing good work; you are surely impacting lives.
  • Seek them out: Don’t forget the orphans; your role in orphan care will become clearer the more you expose yourself to their plight.
  • Sponsorship: Sponsor an orphan to access education and earn heavenly rewards.
  • Advocate: Think outside the box to discover what creative project you can come up with to improve the lives of these vulnerable children.

AfriGrowth Foundation urges you to reach out a helping hand in caring for these orphans. Let’s all join hands and change the thoughts of orphanage vulnerable children, who at times don’t get to celebrate their birthdays. Some don’t even know their birthday date.

Our contributions and zeal to add value to the lives of these children are never in vain. Back tracking into the corridors of time, many orphans struggled and turned out to be great people, like, Nelson Mandela, George Washington, Mata Hari, Malcom X and even Steve Jobs of Apple, just to mention a few. Now tell us, won’t you be proud if you had contributed to their journey in life?

We at AfriGrowth Foundation have developed life-changing projected premised on uplifting the social and economic status of orphans. We welcome you to come forth and partner with us on the implementation of these laudable projects.

We all have a part to play in supporting the orphans. Whether you start now and make an impact is up to you. Remember, blessed is the hand that giveth than the one that taketh.
